Gil's Retirement Party!

After 27 years teaching at Stanford, a Gil extravaganza is in the works to celebrate his many contributions to Stanford and enthusiasts of energy and the environment.

We're planning three events for the weekend of November 10th and 11th:

Saturday: Greening the Universities: A Focus on Buildings
Saturday Evening: Gil Masters Retirement Dinner and Party
Sunday Morning: Brunch and Hike in the Foothills near Hidden Villa

In addition to the festivities, everyone is invited to contribute to Other Memories and Garbage memoir book with all of our fabulous stories of Gil and how he has influenced our life paths.

Spread the word, and invite your friends to visit this webpage!

Brunch/Hike at Hidden Villa

On Sunday, November 11th, we will gather for a low-key brunch and hike at Hidden Villa. Hidden Villa is an organic farm with several sustainable buildings (straw-bale, rammed earth, & earth berm) located in Los Altos, just South of the Stanford Campus. The farm abuts hundreds of miles of trails in the Mid-Peninsula open space preserve. Word has it, there will also be a sustainable buildings workshop occurring on the Hidden Villa grounds that day. The Hidden Villa staff have indicated that a tour of the building and farm may be possible with enough interest.

A ten dollar cash donation will be collected at the door.

Let us know if you will be joining us for the morning after.
Please send an e-mail to if you plan to attend, and if you are interested in a tour of the sustainable buildings.

We are hoping to include pages designed by all of Gil's fans and would appreciate any pictures, stories, thoughts, or inspirations that you might have for Gil. Craft your own 8.5" by 11" sheets of paper or jot your thoughts down in a simple e-mail.
